In a week full of marquee matchups, the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams delivered one of the most entertaining games of the young NFL season. The Rams entered their Week 5 matchup with the 49ers as one of the league’s hottest teams, having won three straight games, including an impressive road victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4.
However, the 49ers proved to too much for the Rams, as they cruised to a 39-10 victory on Sunday. With the win, the 49ers moved to 4-0 on the season and vaulted back into the top five of our latest NFL Power Rankings.
The Rams suffered their first loss of the season and tumbled out of the top 10 in our rankings. Here’s a look at where all 32 teams stand heading into Week 5:
1. New England Patriots (4-0)
The Patriots continue to roll as they cruised to a 30-14 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Tom Brady was his usual efficient self, completing 18 of 28 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns. The Patriots’ defense also continued its strong start to the season, as it held the Bills to just 14 points.
2. Baltimore Ravens (3-1)
The Ravens rebounded from their Week 3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs with a resounding 40-25 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Lamar Jackson was once again the star of the show for the Ravens, as he accounted for five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) in the win.
3. Kansas City Chiefs (4-0)
The Chiefs continued their strong start to the season with a 24-17 road victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Patrick Mahomes was not at his best, but he still threw for 340 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs’ defense also came up big in the win, as it intercepted Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford three times.
4. Dallas Cowboys (3-1)
The Cowboys picked up a big divisional win on Sunday, as they defeated the New Orleans Saints 12-10. Dak Prescott was once again the star for the Cowboys, as he threw for 247 yards and a touchdown. The Cowboys’ defense also came up big in the win, as it held the Saints to just 10 points.
5. San Francisco 49ers (4-0)
The 49ers continued their strong start to the season with a dominant 39-10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. Jimmy Garoppolo was excellent, as he threw for 317 yards and four touchdowns. The 49ers’ defense also came up big in the win, as it held the Rams to just 10 points.
6. Seattle Seahawks (3-1)
The Seahawks picked up a big divisional win on Sunday, as they defeated the Arizona Cardinals 20-17. Russell Wilson was once again the star for the Seahawks, as he threw for 240 yards and a touchdown. The Seahawks’ defense also came up big in the win, as it held the Cardinals to just 17 points.
7. Green Bay Packers (3-1)
The Packers rebounded from their Week 3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles with a resounding 31-3 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Aaron Rodgers was excellent, as he threw for 283 yards and four touchdowns. The Packers’ defense also came up big in the win, as it held the Vikings to just three points.
8. Houston Texans (3-1)
The Texans picked up a big divisional win on Sunday, as they defeated the Carolina Panthers 16-10. Deshaun Watson was once again the star for the Texans, as he threw for 160 yards and a touchdown. The Texans’ defense also came up big in the win, as it held the Panthers to just 10 points.
9. Chicago Bears (3-1)
The Bears rebounded from their Week 3 loss to the Washington Redskins with a resounding 24-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night. Mitchell Trubisky was excellent, as he threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns. The Bears’ defense also came up big in the win, as it held the Vikings to just 10 points.
10. Los Angeles Rams (3-1)
The Rams suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday, as they were defeated by the San Francisco 49ers 39-10. Jared Goff was held in check by the 49ers’ defense, as he threw for 201 yards and a touchdown. The Rams’ defense also struggled, as it allowed the 49ers to score 39 points.
