Until a week ago, Arman Tsarukyan was scheduled to headline the UFC Vegas 72 main event against Renato Moicano. However, a last-minute injury to Moicano has put the main event in jeopardy and the Armenian-Russian lightweight’s hopes of fighting on April 29th are looking slim.
As a result, Tsarukyan is looking for a dance partner who is ready to replace Moicano on short notice. Consequently, the 26-year-old called out Bobby Green for a fight on Twitter after seeing the unranked contender’s bout ended in a no-contest. Tsarukyan retweeted a video of Bobby Green complaining about wanting money for his fight and captioned it “I still don’t have an opponent, if you need money.”

Speaking about the incident, Green accidentally clashed heads with Jared Gordon during a striking exchange which led to a knockdown thereafter Bobby Green landed some ground-and-pound strikes and the referee stopped the fight. Initially, it seemed like Bobby won the fight. However, the referee informed Bobby Green that the fight is ruled as a no-contest.
Will UFC book a fight between Arman Tsarukyan and Bobby Green?
Both the fighters Bobby Green and Jared Gordon were frustrated from the outcome of their matchup at UFC Fight Night. Following the matchup, Bobby Green expressed his disappointment in the post-fight press conference. With less than a week left for the promotion to find Arman Tsarukyan, there is a possibility that they approach Bobby Green.
It would be rare for the UFC to allow a fighter to compete in successive weeks. But if there is anyone in the lightweight division who would pick a fight on one week’s notice then his name is Bobby Green. Owing to the fact that the lightweight veteran has accepted a short-notice fight previously against Islam Makhachev when no other top contender was ready to step in and replace the injured Beneil Dariush.
It is brave of Arman Tsarukyan for challenging Green as the latter is not ranked in the lightweight division and a loss would drop him in the rankings. But it is better than the UFC canceling the bout. With that being said, it would be interesting to see if the promotion has any other alternatives who might step up and take the challenge at UFC Vegas 72 against Tsarukyan.
