Mike Tyson’s former coach, Kevin Rooney, has warned Anthony Joshua not to fight Joe Joyce

Mike Tyson's former coach, Kevin Rooney, has warned Anthony Joshua not to fight Joe Joyce

As the old saying goes, ‘he who laughs last, laughs best’. And’s exactly what’s happening with Joe Joyce, the British heavyweight boxer, who will take on Anthony Joshua in an all-British bout.

Joyce’s former coach, Teddy Atlas, has warned Joshua not to fight him, predicting that Joyce will come out on top.

Atlas, who coached Tyson during his heyday, said: “I think Joe Joyce will beat Anthony Joshua.

“I think he has the style to do it. He’s a very good inside fighter.

“He has very good movement for a big man. He’s very light on his feet.

“He’s awkward. He’s not the guy that you can just go in there and wing punches at and think you’re going to hit him.”

Joyce, who is undefeated in his professional career, is known for his power punching and his ability to take a punch.

Atlas added: “He’s [Joyce] a tough guy, he’s been hit with some big shots and he’s taken them well.

“I think he can hurt Joshua, and I think he will.”

It remains to be seen whether Joshua will take Atlas’ advice and steer clear of Joyce, but one thing is for sure, the winner of this fight will have bragging rights for years to come.
