The tributes to Queen Elizabeth II continue to pour in from the world of football.

The Premier League and Women’s Super League have both released statements paying tribute to the monarch, who passed away on Friday at 95.

“The Premier League was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty The Queen,” the Premier League said in a statement.

“As a mark of respect, our thoughts are with the Royal Family and all those who have served our country so admirably during her long and remarkable life.”

The Women’s Super League also paid tribute to the Queen, who was a keen supporter of the game.

” Our thoughts are with the Royal Family and all those who have served our country so admirably during her long and remarkable life.”

Queen Elizabeth II was a patron of the Football Association and attended several high-profile matches during her reign.

She was also the first monarch to attend a women’s international football match, when she watched England take on Scotland at Wembley Stadium in 1972.

The Queen was a regular at Wembley for FA Cup finals and other major games, and she also attended the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Football clubs across the country have been observing a minute’s silence in tribute to the Queen, and many players and managers have taken to social media to express their condolences.

The FA has also announced that a special tribute will be paid to the Queen at all of this weekend’s FA Cup matches.
