Cameron Tringale will take a three-shot lead into the weekend at the Scottish Open after a rollercoaster second round at the Renaissance Club.
Scottish Open: second-round leaderboard
Tringale (US), Ghim (US), Woodland (US), Schauffele (US), Kitayama (US), Smith, and Fitzpatrick are all from the United States.
Selected others:
-2 Fowler (US), -2 Syme (Sco), -2 Rose (Eng), -2 Warren (Sco), -2 Poulter (Eng), -2 Ferguson (Sco), -2
The American began the day with a one-shot advantage over his nearest challenger, but that was quickly erased as he bogeyed the first hole. He then steadied the ship with a string of pars before carding his first birdie of the day at the sixth hole.
However, Tringale then gave the shot back at the very next hole as he bogeyed the seventh. He bounced back again with a birdie at the eighth hole but then gave that shot back with another bogey at the ninth.
The back nine was a much more sedate affair for Tringale as he recorded two birdies and two bogeys to finish with a round of 72.
That leaves him on seven-under-par for the tournament, three shots clear of his nearest challengers, Richie Ramsay and Sebastian Munoz.
Ramsay shot a solid round of 69 one day two to move into second place while Munoz also carded a 69 to sit in third place.
Another shot back-and-forth place is a group of four players on three-under-par, including last year’s champion, Bob MacIntyre.
