The Springboks moved to the top of the Rugby Championship with a hard-fought 20-36 win over Argentina in Buenos Aires.
It was a scrappy affair, with both sides making handling errors in the humid conditions, but the Springboks were the better side and were deserved winners.
tries from Faf de Klerk, Damian de Allende and Herschel Jantjies, and 14 points from the boot of Elton Jantjies, saw the Springboks home.
Argentina did score two late tries to give the scoreline a flattering look, but the result was never in doubt.
The win takes the Springboks to the top of the Rugby Championship table, ahead of New Zealand on points difference.
It is the first time they have been top of the table since 2015, and they will look to cement their position with a win over the All Blacks in Wellington next weekend.
